A very spectacular and challenging trek, we traverse glaciers and cross the rarely traveled Kangla Jot pass to enter the Zanskar Valley.
Beginning in the small town of Udaipur with its Hindu temples we trek through the beautiful less trampled Miyar Nala valley with its pristine alpine pastures surrounded by rocky and snow capped mountains - a great playground for climbing enthusiasts. This high altitude valley is carpeted with flowers during the short summer months of Mid June to the end of September. The wide open meadows soon give way to serious terrain of rocks, scree and boulders and crevasses will have to be negotiated to get to the glaciated Kangla Jot pass after which we enter the Zanskar valley - a total contrast with its stunning moon like landscape and ancient Buddhist monasteries situated dramatically on cliff tops and across the rugged hills.
This demanding trek offers one a chance to trek through wilderness and high altitude and a wonderful insight into the local culture as you get to see Hindu culture at its best in the temples of Kulu ,Manali and Udaipur which are a contrast to the culture across the pass in the remote Zanskar valley which remains cut off from the rest of the world for 6 months of the year from November until May. All passes leading to this valley are snowbound and the only way for the locals to commute to Leh, the district headquarters of Ladakh is to walk across the frozen Zanskar River in the month of January until mid February.

Note: After Mid July to end of Sept, more open crevasses will have to be negotiated.
