Only an hour from Delhi, we take the most spectacular mountain flight to Leh, the main town of Leh and once its capital. You feel the high rarified air immediately as you land at 3500m above sea level. We will spend some days acclimatising during which we will undertake several day trips biking trips visiting monasteries, villages, rafting and in this period getting used to the challenges of riding at high altitude. The past biking days prepares for our challenging rides to Khardungla, one of the highest motorable pass at 5370m. These trips are the ultimate preparatory rides before we begin our 473km bike trip to Manali – considered one of the most classic bike trips. We ride up steep roads crossing a series of high passes including the 2nd highest pass – Taglangla at 5280m , racing across the Moore plains ( part of the Tibetan Changtang plateau) and down hill on switch back roads. All along you pass through the most awesome landscape of high cliffs and rocky faces , the colors of which change with the light. As you cross the 4891m Baralacha pass which offers panoramic views of the snowcapped Mulkila range of mountains, you reach the semi arid plains of Lahaul valley and civilisation before finally crossing the 3978 Rohtang pass, gateway to the lush green apple valley of Manali– A tremendously challenging bike trip through spectacular and varied landscape and seeing different cultures – this truly promises to be an mountain biker’s - “MUST DO” trips in their lifetime.
