At 4280m and only 154km away from Leh, the 40mile long Pangong Lake extends for the most part into China with only 1/4th of the lake lying in India ( Ladakh). One gets awed by the sheer magical beauty of this expansive lake. Surrounded by 6500m peaks, one can sit and stare as the light plays gently to change the hues of the lake. In the evening, the lake is at its darkest blue and in the morning light, purple, pink , green and blue ripples gently change the color of the lake to a lighter shade.
