Insurance

It is imperative that you have travel insurance when on a holiday. You would need to buy this at your country as this cannot be done in India. Insurance, especially if trekking and climbing, needs to be able to cover all emergencies including hospitalization, hotel bills, flights (if you have to return early), helicopter rescue.

Rimo Expeditions carry no type of liability insurance, personal medical insurance, emergency rescue or evacuation, or any type of insurance whatsoever for participants. However, we have insurance coverage for all their trek staff and porters wherever applicable.

We strongly encourage each of you to purchase a travel insurance policy for the trip and to check with your homeowners and medical insurance policies to see that you are covered by them while abroad.

Helicopter Evacuation

If you are undertaking a trip in a remote area and would like to be covered for helicopter evacuation, please note that the helicopter charges are US$1500/- to US$2000/- per hour from hangar to hangar, and in Ladakh the Indian Air Force send 2 choppers for one rescue - for safety reasons. This would mean a minimum amount of US$20,000/- in India and US$50,000/- when travelling in Bhutan.

Some well known international insurance agents we recommend are Global Rescue (www.globalrescue.com) / Euro Assistance (www.europ-assistance.com) / MEDEX (www.medexassist.com) / Travelex (www.travelex.com)
