Exploratory Trips

Exploratory trips are the most memorable and exciting as you walk on untrodden paths and into unventured terrain. As pioneers in exploration, we have in the past 25 years, chalked out new trekking trails, connected valleys, climbed and named unknown peaks, been the first humans to step on the Huge Ice cap of the Teram Shehr plateau in East Karakoram as well as remote glaciers in the East Karakoram.

Geoff from Australia has been trekking with Rimo since 2005 and has done the maximum exploratory trips. This is what he has to say about a last minute change in itinerary ( due to permit restrictions) on a 23 days trek in Sikkim in the autumn of 2016.

“The reason Rimo is the ”Go To” company when it comes to the logistical side of organising an Himalayan trek cannot be better displayed than in what they have be able to organise, re-organise and yet again, re-organise over the past week in such a matter that we are not going to be dis advantage with our trek. In fact, quite the opposite because I now think it’s a better trip than the original for the following reasons:

- It has one less night in a hotel which means one more day of trekking and camping.
- The driving hours have been reduced by a third.
- We get to explore an area in Norther Sikkim that is rarely visited and apparently spectacular
- We have a rest day up our sleeve for the longer walk.
- There’s a better balance between trekking and sightseeing.
- We stay under 5000 metres at all times
