Beginning our tour in Shimla, a small hillstation in Northern India made famous during the British Raj, we undertake one of the most challenging bike trips. Beginning in the foothills of the Himalaya, we bike through lush green countryside filled with fruit orchards following the roaring Sutlej river through a gorge on the Hindustan Tibet Highway before entering the arid Spiti valley with centuries old monasteries standing across and atop hillocks. The altitude gets higher and we get well trained for our final week of biking crossing several high pass between the range of 4100m to 5300m. This is as challenging as it can get as you get on the main Manali – Leh highway and bike through stunning landscape negotiating high passes, steep descents, switch back trails and across the Moore plains ( plateau) to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Here we will visit monasteries and villages and end with the classic one day bike trip to Khardungla( 5596m) the highest motorable pass in the world to end this exhilarating –1200km bike trip across the crossroads of the Himalaya.

Notes: While biking from Shimla till Kaza, accommodation will be in basic but comfortable and clean lodges / hotels. Our guide will carry fruits and extra food to supplement the lodge meals . From Losar onwards, we will supply sleeping tents and all the meals by the cook team. An emergency oxygen cylinder will be sent along with the truck
